Playback NX5 footage from Cam

When I attempted to log and transfer footage from my SD card it gave me an error message. I recovered the data using the camera but I'm still getting the error message. The camera play the footage. Can I play it straight out of the camera into FCP and how? Any suggestions are welcome.

Have you tried copying the SD card (the complete card, with all subfolders and metadata) to a hard disk, then Log and Transferring from that?

What is the format of footage shot on the camera?

Download the trial version of EditReady, does that transfer (within the limitations of the trial) the files?

To play out the audio and video from the camera in to FCP, you will need some kind of interface box:

or

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt=Blackmagic+Design+Intensity+Shuttle&N=0 &InitialSearch=yes&sts=ma&Top+Nav-Search…

The exact box you would want to get depends on the computer you are using and the outputs from the camera.

What version of FCP are you running? Only FCP 7.0.3 can deal with footage from that camera in Log and Transfer...and only if you have the plugin from Sony (which they might no longer make available).

BUT, as Meg pointed out, EditReady will be your best bet. The company also made ClipWrap2...and that might work if your OS is older, as EditReady needs a current OS. ClipWrap2 was ready to handle the NX footage before FCP was. I was working on a pilot for a show shot with that camera, and FCP couldn't deal with it. I emailed the developer of CLipWrap2 and sent test footage...and got an update two days later and it worked! FCP support came months later. But now that FCP 7 is no longer being developed, many camera makers have removed the plugins for that version...so you might need ClipWrap2 for this.

The card won't allow me to drag to another hard drive. It keeps giving me an error. I can play it in the camera once I recovered the files in the camera.

It shot in AVCHD. I have logged and transferred with this camera before. This was a new card. I found the camera powered on when I took it out of the bag. I think that when the battery died it hurt the data. My guess.

This problem occurs when you either put the card in a reader or connect the camera to the computer an attempt the transfer from the camera?

Sounds like the card directory is damaged.

Does that camera have a Firewire output?

Does your computer have a Firewire input?
