when selecting print, is there a way to be given the option to select and print just a subset of pages (or just the current page)? Many times I get a printout of a dozen pages when all I wanted was the first page.

The options for air print are limited. You could see if the manufacture of your printer provides a printer app.
Could try out one of these printer apps, don't know if they allow you to select pages. "some assembly required".

Yes there is such an option, tap on Options when you see your printer listed an it should provide a range of pages.
Thanks, but... perhaps this is unique to my wireless printer (HP laserjet e-all-in-one: MFP-M127fw) but the only choice under Options is number of copies, not which subset of pages to print.
