Purchased songs vanished from iPhone

1. What country or network are you in/on? If you're accessing the US store from a network outside the US, you won't be allowed to purchase via the US store.

2. Regarding your purchased music, I'm not sure if this would work outside the US, however, it looks like your purchased music may be hidden. This is an option in your user account in iTunes (you can't access this via an iOS device as far as I know. To check, here's how:

Sign into your account via iTunes. Find "iTunes in the Cloud" section, which should be the group under Apple ID Summary under Account Information. You should find "Hidden Purchases Unhide any hidden, redownloadable Purchases" and click on Manage. If you have any hidden music or albums, they'll show up here and you can click "unhide". I have never hidden music in my account, however I found several hidden at one point. Not sure how that happens, but you may not have done this yourself. Hopefully that will then allow you to see a cloud icon instead of "Purchased" in the store allowing you to stream or download the song(s) on your device.

In my case it has nothing to do with country or purchases being hidden. I've pre-ordered an album, and two songs are already available for download. They downloaded on my Mac instantly. In the iTunes Store app on my iPhone the songs are greyed out and it says that they are downloaded, but nowhere to be found in the Music app. In fact, most of my iCloud music library just went missing from the iPhone (and no, the offline mode is not activated).

This new Music app and the whole iCloud music service are a huge screw up on Apple's part. It is far from a release state. Can't even call it a beta version. More like alpha.

OK, those songs are marked "E" for Explicit. Check to be sure your device isn't restricting purchases marked as such. Go to: Settings/General/Restrictions (enter your device's pass code when prompted) and turn on iTunes store (which will allow such purchases and (hopefully) downloads). Also on this same page, scroll to ALLOWED CONTENT, tap on Music & Podcasts and enable the "EXPLICIT" button.

In my case the missing songs were "Explicit" too, but I had restrictions disabled all along, though. But, enabling them and disabling again seems to have solved the problem. Or it could be a coincidence, though.
