Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
From what I understand, you have purchased a new iPhone 6 and were not able to restore it from your iPhone 5 iCloud backup because the iPhone 5 had a newer version of iOS than your iPhone 6. This behavior is normal. I do understand as well that you have recently updated your iPhone 6 to have the most current software as well; this will fix the restore problem.
In order to restore your new iPhone 6 from your old iPhone 5 iCloud backup now, you will need to erase the iPhone 6 and go through the set up process again. If you still have the iPhone 5, I may suggest creating a new backup before erasing your iPhone 6, just to ensure all of your data is saved in a backup. Keep in mind as well that if you have added any new content to your new iPhone 6, this will be erased when you restore from your iPhone 5 backup.
Please follow step 5 in the attached article below to complete this process.
