After reviewing your post, it sounds like you are not able to eject an iPod from iTunes for Windows. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help the issue.

Jul 23, 2015 12:06 PM in response to mario49by garyfromnormal,Thanks. This is what I have been doing the last couple of weeks. Prior to a couple of the July iTunes Updates, I never had to do this.
Since the iTunes Updates, this is an everyday issue. I am thinking it has something to do with iTunes and not my iPod or Windows.

Jul 23, 2015 12:30 PM in response to garyfromnormalby mario49,Hey garyfromnormal,
So Windows will recognize the device and eject it normally. This began recently after a few updates to the computer. The iPod still works normally. I would recommend that you follow this article, songs you've imported from CDs or purchased from iTunes won't be deleted by removing and reinstalling iTunes.
Have a good one
