Has the PC always had this issue streaming via AirPlay or did this just started happening? Is the AirPort Express the only wireless router in your current network configuration or is there another router that the Express is either extending or joining?

    Hi Tesserax

I originally had the PC running with one airplay express on a local network run by a netgear Wndr4500v2 and everything was fine.

I since added another airplay express (same model) to control another room. This is when the problem began. Ive tried going back to one installation but i still have the problem???

Let's try with the single AirPort Express again.

I would suggest that you first perform a "factory default" reset on this base station, and then, temporarily bring it to the same room as your Netgear router. Once there, go ahead and configure it for streaming by using the following Apple Support article to guide you.

To test streaming quality, just connect a pair of stereo headphones to the audio port on the base station, and then, play an audio track from iTunes on your PC. If everything checks out, do the same for the second Express base station.

If both now can be streamed to successfully, you can now move them one-at-a-time to their desired location ... then test again using either the headphones or with the appropriate audio playback device.

    Please post back your results.

    HI

Reset AirPlay to factory and moved to living where net gear router is. Configured AirPlay to join existing network over wifi. With iTunes playing via PC to AirPlay in living. Unit still pauses audio (Skips)

i should have mentioned before PC is connected to network via usb wifi dongle not by LAN

    Cheers

It's important to understand how the AirPlay stream propagates from your iTunes on your PC. In this case, it will first travel by wireless to your Netgear router. From there it will travel via wireless to your AirPort Express base station. So there were be at least two wireless hops between your PC and the Express. If your PC is also in the same room as (now) both of your routers this would provide the "shortest" path. If not, then we would need to take into consideration the location of the PC to the Netgear router.

I don't think this should pose a problem, unless you know for a fact that the data transfer rate between the PC and the Netgear is low. Does the USB Wi-Fi dongle support 802.11n?

Sorry for the delay in replying. I've fixed the problem. It appears the transfer rate for the desktop usb wifi was the cause. I've connected the desktop now via a powerline adaptor. I can now connect to all three AirPlay speakers without any skipping/pauses.

    Thanks for the help

    regards
