Q: how to create child ID and family group via browser?

Hello,

I just purchased an iPad mini 2 to use some apps recommended by an occupational therapist to help one of my kids with focus and ability to transition from one activity to another.  It is the only apple device we as a family own.  I read about creating child ID's which are part of a family setup but the directions on creating these seem to all be based on me (the device managing adult) already having an apple device.  I had planned on setting it up this way in case we add other apple devices to the family.

So.... is there a way to create a new family group and create a child ID and add it to the group all via a web browser?   I managed to create an apple ID for me but couldn't figure out the rest.

As an aside, is it true that there really isn't a good way to have a teen/adult password for the device that unlocks some or all parental controls while most of the time the device is fairly restricted?

Thanks so much in advance.

    Dan,

Have you tried working through the steps inSet up Family Sharing - Apple Support to setup the Family Sharing account(s)?

And welcome to the Apple Family, be sure and raise questions on here so we (all fellow users) can help make this easier.

Unfortunately that page (and others like it) assume I have an apple device myself.  It says things like:

"One adult in the family—the family organizer—can set up Family Sharing for the group from their iOS device or Mac"

    and

Use these steps on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch:

    1. Go to Settings > iCloud.
    2. Tap Set Up Family Sharing, then tap Get Started.

which both assume I either have an iOS device or a Mac (my IIci doesn't count).
