Some known issues with boot camp 5.1 with windows 10

first of all , we all wait eagerly and anticipate for a version upgrade of boot camp 5 for windows 10

there are 2 known issues for windows 10.0.10240

================================================

issue01:

see the link http://www.edandersen.com/2015/07/06/windows-10-on-mac-bootcamp-fixes/

System Restore, Restore Points and Windows 7 style backups do not work

Again, if you are getting messages such as “check the event log for VSS errors” when trying to backup or create a restore point, and then finding event log messages like:

Volume Shadow Copy Service error: Unexpected error CreateFileW(\\?\GLOBALROOT\Device\HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy48\,0x80000000,0x0000 0003,…). hr = 0x80070001, Incorrect function.
.Operation:
Processing PreFinalCommitSnapshotsContext:
Execution Context: System Provider

Then you’ll find that this is another Bootcamp driver problem, specifically the applehfs.sys driver that allows read only access to HFS volumes. You need to disable this from starting up:

1. Download Sysinternals Autoruns and run it as an Administrator.

2. Search for “apple” and you’ll see “applehfs.sys”.

User uploaded file

3. Disable it by unchecking AppleHFS and restart. You should now be able to create System Restore images and Windows 7 style backups.

that cause windows update failed over and over ,such as KB3074674,etc

The cause of the error is that the windows is unable to access some system files or services.

Thanks for posting this.

My recommendation is to wait on the W10 upgrade/install till proper BC drivers are available. W7/W8+ should continue to work after July 29, 2015. 😉 It is good to know the work arounds.

Thanks for the restore/reboot tip and the 10240 info. My 10162 install was running fine until I tried the update and got a complete hosing.

On my late 2011 17 Macbook Pro, you must disable both the Intel and Radeon displays device mgr or you get the Gray Screen Of Blankness (G..**** SOB)

I use-> bcdedit /set {bootmgr} displaybootmenu yes<- from an elevated cmd so I can boot in safe mode and disable the drivers.

Yes please Apple, new bootcamp drivers
