Q: IM HAVING TROUBLES RESTORING MY IPHONE G3 ERROR 3014

Im trying to restore my Iphone 3gs but when restoring i get error 3014.

i am running windows 7 with the latest itunes version updated it to see if it would fix the issue

i have disabled my system firewall/ virus scan also disabled windows firewall

disabled my router firewall

checked my host file no entries for apple

updated my itunes

and tried on another computer also running windows 7

i tried restore in both DFU mode and restore mode still fails with error 3014

i am stumped

i also tried different  usb ports and checked to see if i have high powered usb ports

i even went out and bought a new cable

any help? or ideas?

the phone is unlocked

and i have never owned a hacked/jailbroken device device so that is not an issue

so how can i manually down load my firmware and software for my device, i tunes give you an option to use your own file but i cant find where to get it, and i don't want to use a copy from an untrusted source.

    • Errors 3000 - 3020.

    This is what you need.

    Also, try the DFU mode:

    • Connect your device to your computer using a USB cable.
    • Turn off the device.
    • Press and hold the Power button for 3 seconds
    • Press the Home button while holding the Power button and hold both for 10 seconds.
    • Release the Power button, but KEEP HOLDING the Home button.
    • After about 15 seconds, iTunes will tell you it has detected a device in Recovery Mode.
    • Restore your device

    More info here: https://www.theiphonewiki.com/wiki/DFU_Mode

If you've already tried all these steps, contact Apple and ask for help.

ok I'm going to save my self and every one time read my first post not just the first line of the post if you do this you will see I have already done every thing you have already listed  i listed every thing I have done to save time, so please read my question and first post fully before responding with links that list steps i have already done.

i have searched this board for my question and followed all the steps listed on the pages that are supplied on this question i have also clicked every link on those pages and followed those steps as well

i have checked all firewall settings and disabled all fire walls

so if my device and use request build then where do I manually download the software and firmware for my phone?

also In the last step it says

"If you've already tried all these steps, contact Apple and ask for help."

that's what I'm doing that's why i am here I'm asking for help redirecting me to the error page for 3194 is not going to help i have done that.

    so please.

Found a solution aperently my isp blocks one of the ports apple uses for restoring devices by default so when i tried this on multiple computers in my own home it had no effect on the issue but i installed itunes on my work computer and tried restoring that way and the restore was successfull the only difference between the 2 computers is the service provider my work uses cable and my home uses a dsl connection.

has to be the dumbest reason for not working.

thank you for every ones attempt to help.
