Cannot connect to Facetime or imassage on ipad mini

I have been trying to connect to Facetime/imessage and it keeps saying that I need to check my network connection. I can get online and check emails so I know I am connected to the internet. I don't understand why it wont allow me to Facetime.

Hey stephk09,
I know that it can be frustrating when you cannot activate and use FaceTime on your iPad. Let's see if we can get it sorted out.
One thing to look at when trying to activate FaceTime or iMessage, is to look at the Date & Time to see if it set in the right Time Zone. Another option is to simply restart the device and try to sign in. Take a look at the article below for a more detailed look to your signed into FaceTime.
