.mov won't open in quicktime

I made a movie from my ppt and it saved as a .mov, but I can't open it. I am using Yosemite version 10.10.4, Quicktime Version 10.4, and PPT for Mac 2011 version 14.5.3. I do not want to record from Keynote, nor do I want to purchase a software program to do this. Originally it wanted me to update to Quicktime 7, but when I tried to accept that option it said it wasn't available. I wish I could be more specific, but I have tried to reopen the file several times to get the exact details, but nothing happens now.

Help is much appreciated!

Okay so a couple of things I noticed:

I was able to create a .mov file from ppt, with a much smaller ppt and it worked. (just like Kurt Lang mentioned - thank you!)

This video was obviously missing animations as they are not used in the movie.

I was able to import the original larger ppt --> .mov file into iMovie and it opened.

This video had some slides out of order.

I am currently updating my Microsoft office package. I do not like the way the movie was made, so I will probably be looking for a third-party video player just as vrs2008 had suggested (thank you @vrs2008).
