Q: How can I use two apple IDs on my ipad?

I have been using the same Apple ID on my school owned iPad and my personal iPhone. I would like to create a new ID to use on my iPad, but don't want to lose what I have in the cloud there. Can I switch between IDs on the iPad? If I delete the personal account on the iPad and create a new one, will I lose messages, photos, videos, etc.? What is the best way to handle this?

iPad, iOS 6.1.3

How many different times are you going to ask the same question? It gets confusing to those that are trying to help. You got answers here, so you should stick with this discussion.

I'm sorry. This is the first time I've tried to use this question/answer forum. Yes, I did get the specific answer that I asked before, but if you read the entire question above, I asked some other questions. Now I know I should have replied to the first question, but I didn't know that before.

    Hi

If you change your Apple ID you will need to download & pay for Apps again

Apps are tied to the apple ID they were downloaded with.

    Cheers

    Yes.

There are several sections you can switch IDs from: iTunes & App Stores, Messages, FaceTime, iCloud.

You won't lose anything by changing Apple IDs except whatever data comes from the iCloud account if you change it.  For instance if you have notes, that are in iCloud, these may be deleted from the iPad when you change the account, but not from iCloud. So will still be available on any other device that is connected to that account.

If you change the Apple ID for iTunes & App Stores, you can continue to use your Apps just fine, the only restriction is: they will request the Apple ID and password of the account that downloaded them any time there are updates available for them.

Other than that, you should not loose anything.

There's no real procedure for this, other than to make sure whatever is important is backed up, so performing a backup before changing Apple IDs is a good idea just to be sure.

I apologize as well. I didn't mean to come off so gruffly. I saw your question yesterday and knew that you did receive some responses. I didn't bother reading as closely as I should have.

I would like to add something to Phil's response. When you switch Apple ID's and you download previously purchased content using a second Apple ID, that associates the device with that "new" ID and you cannot switch back to the other ID for 90 days.
