Network PrefPane stuck at " 1 Infinite Loop "
I decided I would try the DNS server "ADD" trick when troubleshooting an ongoing issue with my Pismo's download speed. (Long story, and I think irrelevant to this particular issue)
When I choose > System Preferences... > Network, the PrefPane opens, bit very quickly alerts me like this
When I click [OK] button OR ENTER/RETURN keys, the alert goes away - then immediately returns = REPEATEDLY, infinitely
If I am very coordinated, I can manage to key ENTER and click [Configure] in rapid succession - resulting in the display of this, MY GOAL
However, that pesky alert message quickly returns! I can continue my rapid fire technique, even managing to paste " 8.8.8.8 " into the DNS Servers: field - BUT - the ENTER key that 'dismisses" the alert also clears the DNS IP address.
My first thought was to find the file that holds the DNS IP address string and edit it in BBEdit - but then I realized that without being able to modify the Pref, I could not deduce the filename easily by modification date - AND - since no custom DNS strings exist, I would have no way of knowing "where" in the file to put it!!
I am looking for:
- a fix for my PrefPane alert "Infinite Loop" (pun intended), or
- aid in locating and editing the Pref file (some ',plist' ?) adding the DNS IPs, or
- BOTH
Thanks in advance, amigos
