FaceTime and iMessage not working on iTouch4

Facetime and iMessage have stopped working on my iTouch4 using ios6.1.6.

I sign in, it says "signing in" then "verifying" and then it stops.

How do I get Facetime and iMessage working again ?

iPod touch, iOS 6.1.6
