Playing sand volleyball and the watch....

Hi.

I'm a sand volleyball player and general athlete.

I wear my apple watch to do regular workouts, and even when I play grass volleyball.

I am too afraid to wear the apple watch while playing sand volleyball, which is where I get most of my workouts.

I did purchase apple care, however, I am still very apprehensive about even trying to play with it on, for fear of the sand getting inside the watch.

Has anybody played sand vb or even worn it on the beach extensively?

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

I've naively played a full season of sand volleyball with my Apple Watch Sport (glass screen rather than sapphire) several times. I could just be lucky but I've never run into issues with scratches on the glass.

The only issue I've run into is the occasional grains of sand getting caught under the digital crown. But, a few flicks of the wrist and spins of the crown seem to get them out.
