Q: Deleting iPhoto Events

With this hateful new Photo, is there any point in keeping my iPhoto Events albums?

I have around 14,000 photos. My iPhoto organisation in Events was neat and very accessible for the photo projects that I do (and sorry if you are a fan of Photo and think it is an improvement in any way .... seriously!!???).  Now with Photo I am going through and reorganising photos into Albums.

If I reorganise a set of photos into a Photo "Album" can they then be deleted from the old iPhoto Event Album?  Does it save me any memory?

The albums you refer to as event albums are just the same as any new albums you are creating. There doesn't seem to be any point in what you are doing or will it save you any space.

In Photos you can add your photos to as many albums as you like without needing much additional storage. The albums are just referencing the photos in the library. The photos are stored only once.

Are you asking about the folder "iPhoto events" that Photos created when it migrated the iPhoto Library to Photos?  The albums in this folder have been created from your old events - one album for each event. It is up to you, if you want to keep these albums. Deleting them will not save much space, because it will only delete the albums, the photos are stored in the library.

Or are you asking about your old iPhoto Library? Deleting the old library will not interfere with the new Photos library, but it will make it impossible to fall back on iPhoto and use iPhoto again for tasks that the new Photos .app cannot do.  Delete the iPhoto Library only, if you are sure, that you will not want to use iPhoto again.  Your new Photos library is using hard links to the iPhoto Library to save space, so you will not gain much by deleting the iPhoto Library.

Can you clarify if you are asking about deleting events from iPhoto or deleting the migrated event albums from photos.
