Safari not responding

Safari not responding

I have opened Safari on my Mac-I have been using Firefox previously.It has apparently synched with the Safari on my iPad but will not respond-just a spinning beach ball.

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.2)

Could be Safari extensions or add-ons mentioned in this support article > If Safari is slow, stops responding, quits unexpectedly, or has other issues - Apple Support

Thank you.Removing extensions unfroze it but still running rather slowly.Removing items from library as article suggests beyond my technical capabilities so I will see if I can live with it and if not I will revert to Firefox.
