Migration - data not searchable

Hi there

I moved my computer from a macbook pro running Mavericks 10.9 to a new macbook pro running Yosemite 10.10.3. All the files moved over but spotlight cant search them by title or for content. The mail program search function also doesn't work. Is there a way to get the computer to read these files or index them or something so that I can use spotlight and mail search again?
