apple watch app frozen on my phone/not responding

The Apple Watch app on my iPhone 6+ is stuck and not responding. It will NOT scroll up or down. It is not communicating with my watch. My phone says that it recognizes the watch's bluetooth, however, the watch is not able to recognize the phones bluetooth. Therefore, all my data on my watch is not current...ie) calendar events, workout history, etc. any ideas??

Try these steps before backing up and restoring your iPhone:

1. Force quit the Apple Watch app on your iPhone:

  • Press the Home button two times quickly. You'll see small previews of your recently used apps, Swipe left to find the Apple Watch app, Swipe up on the Apple Watch app's preview to close it.
  • Force an app to close in iOS - Apple Support

2. Restart - and then, if that hasn't worked, force restart your iPhone:

  • Restart: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears, Drag the slider to turn your device completely off, After the device turns off, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button again until you see the Apple logo.
  • Force restart: press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home button for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.
  • Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
