Marware, Apple, and Screen Cancer Apathy

I am experiencing a rather frustrating issue regarding my MacBook Pro that I purchased May 31 of 2006.

When I bought the machine, I also invested in a Marware pad that is designed to protect the screen from damage due to finger oils transferring that seem to etch the screen, as witnessed on my old Powerbook G4 1 ghz.

As it turns out, there seems to be a design incompatibility with the new MacBook Pro and the Marware pads; the tolerance between the keys and the screen are tighter, and the Marware pad is too thick. This is a problem, as it prevents the computer from staying in sleep mode and as a result, generates a high amount of heat while resting in the case. Couple this with the Marware product and it's ability to collect ambient dust, and Viola! You have a little dust oven that bakes the offending particles onto the Apple screen. As of now, I have a screen that looks like it is 5 years old, on a machine that is 5 months old. This is the best explanation I can come up with; I am not a scientist, but I do know how heat can transfer grime into a plastic surface at sustained temperatures through the process of convection.

Anyone else notice a problem with this? I can't get any help from either side.

Hate to tell you, but having that MBP has much bigger problems that will not burn your screen, but eventually keep you from seeing it. If your MBP last 6 months without problems, consider yourself lucky. The thing will visit "Apple Care" within 12 months. Don't become too attached. Back-up everything on an external drive. You'll be sharing your purchase with Apple from then on. I often get mine back running last year's OS... before it has to go right back.

I don't gamble, but if Vegas had odds on this, I'd be really rich.
