After the latest iTunes update me 160 gig iPod is now corrupted

Hello,

After the latest iTunes update my 160 Gig iPod Classic is now corrupt. I have hard reset it and begin to sync songs to it, which works fine for a bit and can play songs if I don't sync my whole library to it, but after leaving it for a while to sync my whole library, I'll eject it and it says there is no music on it even though when I go to settings it says there is (# of Gigs used) of other data on there. When I reconnect it it says that I need to scan the ipod and then iTunes says it can't read anything on my ipod and says I have to hard reset it.

I have over 22,000 songs and it's very frustrating as a music geek to not have it when I've been extremely careful with ipod by putting it in a case and etc.

Any way for me to fix this or am I screwed because Apple doesn't make the iPod classic any more.
