My portable Samsung dvd player won't play my dvd's ?

I have a Samsung Portable DVD Writer, Model SE-208. I don't use it often, but using it today, it says 'Supported Disc Not Available'. Is there a solution to this problem?

I'm using a Mac mini/ Yosemite 10.10.3, Purchased 2012

Restart the computer and then reconnect the DVD Writer and re-test.

Does the drive work on other computers?

Doe the USB ports on the Mac work for external drives?

Googling shows that he drive is powered by the USB bus. Is this the only device connected?

Not infrequency self-powered drives are problematic.
