My regular flat screen tv is stealing the signal of my apple tv remote....How can I fix this?

My apple tv remote hardly works if my westinghouse flat screen tv is on. Its like the tv steals the remote signal. When I shut the regular tv off and use the remote I can see the white light blinking. Turn the tv on and it stops working
I know this doesn't help you, but there is no such thing as one device "stealing" the signal from another device. In some instances one device can interfere with signal from another device, but I don't think that's the case in your situation.
1. See if moving Apple TV to a slightly different location makes a difference.
2. Reset your Apple TV by disconnecting the power cable for about 30 seconds.
I guess interfering would be the right word, not stealing. I know the tv is interfering because when I shut it off the apple tv responds to every time I push something on the apple tv remote.
I have tried both of those several times....called apple and they were stumped as well!
