and i noticed that the distance i actually running is much less than the distance measured by my apple watch

I did indoor running on trademill!

in my opinion i need to calibrate my apple watch in order to get the right distnace i am running

i used the embedded running app

thanks

For indoor running, the only method the wathc has to estimate distance is the number of steps you've taken and your length of stride. Although the wathc will estimate your stride length based on the age, gender, height and weight you have entered, that estimate can be very inaccurate because people have very different ways of walking/running.

You can calibrate your stride length by going for an outdoor run with your watch *and* phone for aroud 20 minutes. Doing this 2 or 3 times gives more accurate calibration. Outdoors, the phone uses GPS to measure the actual distance; the watch can then use that, with the number of steps, to assess your stride length.

After this, the watch should be able to give you a better estimate when running indoors.

Having said all that, some people are preorting that the wathc still doesn't measure distance accurately. If that happens to you, report it to Apple support.

    Hope that helps

    Hi Ohad

Please see these detailed instructions for Calibrating your Apple Watch for improved Workout and Activity accuracy.

    This includes details of:

    - Where and when to run (a flat, open area with good GPS reception and when there are clear skies).

    - Important settings to check that you have activated beforehand.

    - How to hold or attach your iPhone during calibration activities.
