number of photos between iphoto and photos are different after migration

After Yosemite upgrade the Iphoto library was automatically upgraded to Photos. When opening up both applications I see 58.000 pictures in Photos and 63,000 pictures in Iphoto so I am missing 5,000 pictures and I don't know which and why are missing.

Thnx Leoni - I did check Iphoto Library Photo's on overall search with RAW which returned abt 1,000 pict. So would still be missing abt 4,000. I made a SMART album with filename contains RAW which returned only 112 pict. Hidden pictures in Photo Library are none. I was wondering does Photo work different with Thumbnails? If Thumbnail is different then original picture this would match-up the difference of abt 5,000.

By the way my daughter with her MacbookPro has a different number of pictures but similar gap between Iphoto Library and Photo Library.
