If you are having an issue with your MacBook Pro trying repeatedly to get you to install an update that has already been installed, you may want to check to see if Spotlight indexing has been turned off. See this article for a resolution to a similar issue which may help you as well - Mac App Store: Cannot update App Store purchases or updates do not seem available.

Jul 26, 2015 10:17 AM in response to Brett Lby parksey453,Many thanks for this suggestion - indexing appears to be working properly. However, in the meantime, the App Store has stopped asking me to update iMovie again and again. Let's hope it has stopped permanently!
