Numbers 3.5 Make chart bar colour same as cell fill

Hi

I have a chart in Numbers 3.5 which simply shows the value of a load of totals. In the table where the totals are i've created some conditional rules which make the cell fill colour different depending on the value. Can I make the bar chart's colours the same as the cells fill colours, It'd be great if the bars would show up the same as the colours because it will highlight the different totals of their values?

Thanks

If you are still looking for a solution on this then there is another way.... If a little complicated!

I am using a bar chart but its applicable to column charts. The B column holds your values whilst the C column uses the following formula =−(1−B1) (an so on for each row). Column A has the same values as column B.

I add conditional formatting to create the differing colours depending on the value.

The create a bar chart with the values from column C.

Make sure you have 0% gaps between the bars and the size of the chart fits perfectly to the width and length of column A.... then match the colour of the bars to the same as your background colour and it will mask it nicely to look like this.... ... but me more careful than I was with the alignment!

Hi Rob,

I don't think you can have Numbers match the colors automatically. But if you have your chart set up something like this, you can click each column and change its fill color manually:

SG is correctregarding automiaticlly changing the bar colours to match the conditional colours of the cells containing the data for each bar. You can change the colours manually, as he has described, or as an alternate, your can forego conditional colours for the data (total) cells, and set fixed fill colors for the data and for the matching bar on the chart—a lower maintenance solution than one that requires a (manual) change to the bar colour each time the data total cell changes colour via its conditional format rule.
