Ios8 not syncing properly with ios7

HI,

My wife and I share an iTunes and iCloud account, which is really handy when syncing photos. when we both had an iphone5 on ios7 photos we took would sync to each other's phones.

ive just upgraded to an iPhone6 on ios8 and now it's not working, photos I take are syncing to my wife's phone, but photos she is taking don't sync to mine. I configured the phone as a straight back up and restore from my old iPhone 5 so other than the ios8 upgrade haven't changed anything.

I delliberately haven't upgraded to icloud drive because of the iOS comparability issue, my wife cant upgrade her phone from ios7 to 8 due to space constraints.

FInally I don't have the recent photos album in my folders.

Any help to sort this would be appreciated.
