Canon iP7250 installed on network but showing as 'offline' or 'disconnected'.

I've just installed a new Canon iP7250 printer onto my home network (Apple 'Extreme' and Apple 'Express' as booster). Eventually it was detected, it's listed in the printers list, but if I try to print, it shows as either 'offline' or 'disconnected'. I have all software up to date, the latest Canon drivers installed, and gone through the setup procedure several times, both via the supplied software and via software from the Canon UK site, but still no joy. I have printer sharing enabled so that hopefully my Wife can share the printer from her Macbook, if I ever get it working and I've had to use the USB cable setup method, as the Apple units don't have a WPS button, which might have made it easier, but now I'm stuck. Any ideas anyone???

Apple TV, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5), iPad 3 has latest iOS7 update.

Ok, so if I understand you correctly you currently have the Canon printer attached to the USB port of either the AirPort Extreme or AirPort Express base station. Is that correct? The AirPorts do offer minimum support for WPS and this can be found using the AirPort Utility.

I would suggest that you try re-connecting your printer to the network via a wireless connection and disconnect it from the USB one.

To add your printer, via WPS, using the AirPort Utility, try the following:

  • Run the AirPort Utility from your Mac.
  • Select the AirPort Extreme, and then, select Edit.
  • On the AirPort Utility menu bar, select Base Station, and then, Add WPS Printer
  • Select the WPS method that is supported by your printer, and then, click on Continue.

Hi.

I was attempting to set the printer up wirelessly using the USB connection via my iMac initially as the Apple Extreme and Express don't have a WPS button. My iMac had eventually found the printer as "Canon iP7250", but each time I attempted to use it, it came up on screen as either "offline" or "disconnected". Later last night, I attempted again, using my Wife's Macbook "Pro", and this time the printer was shown as "Canon iP7250 Bonjour". selecting this, the printer then operated perfectly, so I renewed my efforts with my iMac, again deleting then re-adding the printer, and this time it came up as "Canon iP7250 Bonjour", which it had not shown before. The printer then once again functioned perfectly, so I was then able to configure printing by my Ipad, my own and my Wife's iphone, all of which now function perfectly. Unfortunately the Canon 'on-screen' manual and it's 'setup' instructions are not helpful when it comes to a situation such as mine using the Apple units, and as I'm 68, self-taught on computers, and not the sharpest knife in the box when it comes to IT, this took some head scratching to sort out. Many thanks for your attempt to help me, it's much appreciated.
