Q: how do you delete a movie previoiusly downladed from iTunes?

It sounds like you have either downloaded some movies from the iTunes Store to your iPad, or synced them over from your computer to your iPad. Either way, you should be able to delete them from the Videos app with this article:

Delete music, movies, podcasts, and other content from your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch

Tap Edit, then tap the X in the upper-left corner of the show or movie you want to delete. When you're done, tap Done.
