Why is my music stopping after 2 songs?

I have this issue on both my iphone and ipad. it started 3 or four days ago when i got back from vacation. i open the music app go to the playlist i want then hit shuffle and then it plays two songs and stalls the app. it eventually crashes. the album picture stays on the original song though. Any help or suggestions with this issue would be appreciated?
