Q: I have credit on my iTunes account, but buying things on mobile own't use that credit. How can I make it so buying a song or an app uses credit and doesn't charge my card?

A while back, I got a gift card for iTunes. I put it on my account so now I have a running credit of like $50. Yesterday, I bought a song but it charged my credit card instead. If I buy it on my desktop, this isn't an issue it seems (because there is a banner that says "Remaining credit: $XX.XX") but on mobile, it refuses to use my credit. Does anyone else have this problem?

    Hello jollyxgreenexgiant,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!

I understand that when you make a purchase from iTunes or App Store on your Mac the credit on your account is used, but when you make a purchase on your iPhone the charge is to your credit card, not your iTunes Store credit.

The first step I would suggest to troubleshoot this situation would be to view your credit balance on your iPhone and computer. This will accomplish two different things; it will ensure that you are signed into the same Apple ID on both devices and it will ensure that both devices show the same amount of credit.

See your iTunes credit balance - Apple Support

If you are signed into the same Apple ID on both devices and see any discrepancy with the credit available, please let me know.

    Have a great day
