Using a Thunderbolt usb 3.0 adaptor and a capture card? iMac 27in 2011?

Hello! I am a college student with minimal space. I have room for my 27in iMac which is a mid 2011 with a quad i7 and 32gb of ram. I want to be able to play my xbox on it but everything I've seen either requires a mini display port or a usb 3.0 which i have neither. I did find a USB 3.0 to thunderbolt converter. I also found a converter that feeds it live. I guess my question is would the iMac to the usb 3.0 converter to hdmi to the xbox work? If needed I can provide the links to the products. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Cody.
