Ipod touch 6th gen is not recognized as a drive on a PC

I just connected new Ipod touch to a Windows 7 PC. The drivers were installed successfully. Ipod is recognized by Itunes but it's not showing in the list of drives on my PC. I did select "manage manually" option in Itunes to enable disk use but when I connect ipod to my computer it only charges battery, nothing is shown in system tray where plug and play devices should be and it's not shown in Computer where all drives are listed. I also rebooted ipod via power + menu button and reinstalled usb drivers for ipod. It didn't help. I still can only access ipod via Itunes. Also, just FYI, I have ipod nano and PC recognizes it as a drive just fine.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Update: after I took a few pictures and connected ipod again to my computer some additional drivers were installed and now I can see ipod listed together with other drives. It is shown now as a "portable device". When I double click on it there is another system folder called "internal storage". When I open that folder there is only a folder with photos in it, no other files or folders can be seen or added. There is no option to create a new folder or file and paste option in menu is grayed out. I can only copy files and only photos are visible. It says the file system is DCF, so I guess computer sees it as a camera now? How can I fix this?
