Q: iTunes says that I'm not signed into Apple Music

Every now and then while I'm listening to Apple Music, the music will stop and a pop up will say that I need to sign into Apple Music in order to listen. How did I get signed out and how do I sign back in? Each time this has happened, I've confirmed that I'm signed into iTunes and eventually have to restart the app all together.

Click on your profile on top right side of the iTunes window (besides the search box), and go to 'Account Info'.

It should ask you for password. Enter it and in a few moments, you're able to access the Apple Music.

It's weirdly unnecessary, I know. I hope Apple can fix this in future updates.

I have the same problem. I've done this, I tried quitting the app and, signing out of my itunes account then signing in as well but the pop-up is still there. I have the latest version of itunes. I dont have this problem with my iphone. Hope someone can help, even a temporary fix will do.

I've got the same and it didn't fix it either. Funny thing was it was only on 2 particular albums this was happening. Deleted the 2 albums and re-added them and all was fine. But what an inconvenience.

Had the same problem, the Account Info suggestion did not solve it. The solution for me was to go to the Radio section and start listening to any radio station. This has made me sign in and all songs played alright after this.

I had the same problem, it told me I wasn't signed in to Apple Music when trying to play a song. After trying to play some songs in my list, my music list changed to only my previously purchased music (none of my Apple Music songs were showing in my list). I tried logging in using the steps eiyu describes above, but my apple music list didn't come back.

Then I opened up Edit>Preferences>General, and saw that the 'iCloud Music Library' flag was turned off. I made sure it was enabled, closed the preferences, and my Apple Music list is now back and functioning again.

Thanks for your reply! Unfortunately, this flag has been turned on all the time. Still looking forward to the fix

Same problem. Tracks in Applet Music albums gradually all turned grey and then only my paid-for and ripped music was available. Have spent many hours trying to fix but nothing works. With many people being affected you'd think Apple would have found a fix quickly. Hope so. Only happened on my iMac. IPhone and iPad still working ok so not daring to sign in or out of either.

I've solved the problem today finally. The solution was surprisingly simple – I downloaded a song which couldn't be played. From that moment the problem was gone.

I was having a similar issue - strangely I could access and use all the Apple Music I had already added to My Music and also downloaded, but it wasn't letting my add new things to my music or stream anything. It would wait a while and then suddenly pop up asking me to sign up for Apple Music.

I took the wise advice of the characters from The IT Crowd and turned it off and on again. Everything worked normally afterwards. Whether it will happen all over again? Who knows. Until this whole Apple Music thing is perfected, I think we'll all have to deal with a few more roadblocks. Conceptually its great; they'll get there. Just might have to wait it out.

Another thing I noticed is that I wasn't able to play any song that was made available offline without getting the 'Not signed in to Apple Music' message, even though songs that I hadn't made available offline were working fine. I selected all of the songs in my icloud library and right clicked on the selection and chose 'Remove Downloads'. It works, but it did mean re-downloading all the songs when I made them available offline again...

Opening the radio and playing a station took care of this issue for me. I guess it somehow triggers Apple Music to recognize that you're already signed in.

Same problem. Why am I paying for this service when it doesn't work properly?

    Hi,

I had the same problem for days! Even was on Apple support chat for hours with supervisor after supervisor and still nothing!
    Finally I found a solution!
As I like to keep my computer clean all my songs are played from the Cloud.
So I decided to download the affected songs to my pc and then delete them again so they go back into the cloud.
And Bam its all working again!!

    Hope this helps all
