Yahoo IM in Mavericks - Can't display username?

I just upgraded to a new macbook, but since yahoo (for some reason) won't make yahoo chat for OS 10.10, I had to add the account through the Messages app. After putting my info in, all my contacts came up as they should, but my username isn't showing, and replaced with my yahoo mail name (like if my yahoo email was "examplename@yahoo.com", it's showing my name as "examplename" and not my username). Even when I click on my name on the buddies list, it has a dropdown menu of either display name or display username, but that doesn't seem to make a difference.

Sorry if that's confusing, but that's, more or less, the best way I can describe it.
