Adding a video file to iTunes

Hi,

I can't seem to add a video file to iTunes 12 on a Vista PC. The same file can be added to iTunes 12 on Win 8. Both iTunes are version 12.1.2.27. I have already tired opening the file with iTunes. There is enough disk space on the Vista PC. Any suggestions?

Hi RWfromOttawa,

I understand you are trying to add a video file to your iTunes library on a Vista PC. What is the format and size of the video? Since you already have the video in the iTunes Library on your Win 8 PC, perhaps you can copy it to an external drive, and then add it to the iTunes Library on the Vista machine. Or, you can convert the video that is in the Win 8 PC and use the converted file for the Vista PC. Here's some additional information:

If you didn't purchase your videos from the iTunes Store, they may not be a format that you can play on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod. In many cases, you can convert them to the correct format using iTunes.

Depending on your device, choose one of these options:

  • Select a video and choose File > Create New Version > Create iPod or iPhone Version.
  • Select a video and choose File > Create New Version > Create iPad or Apple TV Version.

Another option is to use QuickTime Player to open the original video file and export it to a different version:
