Screen Recording does not record mouseclicks

I try to record my screen and highlight the mouse clicks. So I start Quicktime, choose File -> New Screen Recording, then I click on the little drowdown arrow right beside the record button and tick Show Mouse Clicks in Recording. Unfortunately the mouse clicks are not highlighted in my recordings. I even tried to use an external usb mouse because I thought it might not work with the trackpad. Does anyone have the same problem or a solution to this problem?

I am using Quicktime Version 10.4 (833.6).

MacBook Air (13-inch Mid 2013), OS X Yosemite (10.10.4), null

The search function here is generally not helpful in finding one's problem much less a solution - I used Google Site search to help you find some "reading materials" that may help - maybe not - IF NOT, then the bottom of every "Support Article" has a Button to {Contact Support] (by the image of the Apple People)
