my iPhone says there is no further update to the 7.1 software update, but I know there is an 8.4 updat, what should I do

That is correct, the iPhone 4 does not support iOS8

iOS 8 is only supported on the iPhone 4S and newer

Begging will not increase the capability of it so that it can support. It is caused by the limited nature of the hardware in the iPhone 4.
