Q: iPhone 6, 2g reception issue? keep getting call failed.

Hello Everyone,

I bought my iPhone 6 128gb since it launched and had been working fine. until last week, I have had some issues with 2g reception, it shows no service and sometime shows 2 signal bars. Even though I have 2 signal bars, I keep getting call failed. It works fine when I switched to 3g but in Cambodia 3g service is not available everywhere. When I use the same sim card in my old iPhone 5, it shows 5 signal bars in 2g and works perfectly fine.

does anyone have this type of issue? Please let me know if you have any solution.

iPhone 6, iOS 8.4, null

    Hello there, Tony.K01.

It sounds like you are having issues connecting to your cellular network with your iPhone 6. The following Knowledge Base article offers up some great steps for troubleshooting:

If you can't connect to a cellular network or cellular data - Apple Support

If you see No Service or Searching

If you see No Service or Searching on your device, or can't connect to a cellular network or cellular data, follow these steps:

    1. Check your coverage area to make sure you're in an area with cellular network coverage.

      • If you can't connect to a cellular network, make sure cellular data is on in Settings > Cellular.
      •
      • If you're traveling internationally, make sure your device is set up for data roaming. Go to Settings > Cellular > Data Roaming.

    2. Restart your iPhone or iPad.
    3. Check for a Carrier Settings Update.
    4. Remove the SIM card then reinsert it. If the SIM card is damaged, worn, or bent, or doesn't fit in the SIM tray, contact your carrier.
    5. Try another location. If possible, see if other devices are able to connect to your carrier's network in that location.
    6. Contact your carrier to:

      • Verify that your account is active and in good standing.
      •
      • Make sure there are no outages in your area.
      •
      • Check that your device is not blocked from receiving cellular services and set up with the right data plan.
    7. Update your iPhone or iPad to the latest version of iOS.

If you still can't connect to a cellular network, and have confirmed with your carrier that there isn't an issue with your account or network, try restoring your device.

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

    Cheers.

    Hello pedro d

Thank for your reply. I have tried every methods that you told me even restore my device but nothing work. I've realized that the only way to be able to receive or make a phone call in 2g sevice, my phone needs to have full signal bars. when it's in 3g service even a single signal bar, I can receive and make a phone call as normal. Only one bar drop in 2g service, I can't receive or make a phone call at all and only get "Call Failed" message all the time. I don't know if this is hardware or software issue.
