Landscape mode iPhone 6 plus bugged?

Here's a test - new book using LANDSCAPE CLASSIC template.

No mods just save and preview on my. iPhone 6 plus.

Missing photograph and 2 columns rendered to one - yes I am holding phone in landscape mode.

Something very wrong! Can someone help?

I just found the disable scrolling view check box and that seems to make it behave as it should - but still puzzled as to why an image should just vanish if I have scrolling view not disabled.
