Hello,
I removed my SD card from the reader while iPhoto was opened. After that SD card is not readable on iPhoto neither the Image Capture or Finder.
Any ideas how to fix it?
Iphoto version 8.1.2
OS X version 10.9.5
Finder version 10.9.5
MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.5)
Reformat it with the camera.
well, I have 1000 photos to upload first otherwise I am gonna loose them with the reformatting... 😟
Thanks for tell us that key piece of info. Can you access the card on another computer?
From where I am I have no access to another PC/Mac.
But I tried another SD card (that is not recognised by iPhoto) to reformat and insert to the slot- the same, not readable by iPhoto.
There are two possibilities here: the card or the Mac. There's no way of progressing without bringing the card to another computer to allow you rule out one or the other.
Log into another user account on your Mac and see if you can access the card from there. If not try booting into Safe Mode, Mac OS X: Starting up in Safe Mode, and see if you can access the card from there.
Finally the problem is with Mac as the SD card is readable with the USB card reader.

Well that blows that theory.
As the card reader works then it suggests there is a hardware issue with the reader on your Mac.
iPhoto does not read SD card
