How to fix slow response to keyboard strokes on iPad air

It sounds like your keyboard is a bit slower to respond than you are expecting. That sounds like a software issue we should be able to troubleshoot. First close all the running apps on the device with these steps:

Force an app to close in iOS

1. Press the Home button two times quickly. You'll see small previews of your recently used apps.
2. Swipe left to find the app you want to close.
3. Swipe up on the app's preview to close it.

When you have done that restart the device and test the issue again:

iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting

My wife had this problem too. We decided to book a Genius appointment for service at our local Apple Store.

As part of that Apple did a diagnostic over Wifi and after that the keyboard works just right.

Coincidence or what?!

Might be worth a try, we've now cancelled the Genius appointment.
