iPhone 5C not recognised by laptopsg

hi all,

I have a 5C and a standard 5 and two laptops.

When I plug the 5 into both laptops it charges and loads into iTunes and all.

However when I plug in the 5C to both I get nothing, no charge, no beep nothing. The 5C charges fine in the wall and if I turn it off and plug it into the laptops it turns on but then stops charging.

ive uninstalled iTunes, reinstalled iTunes, reset settings in the phone and can't get this sorted!

any ideas?
