I want to crop a portrait orientation photo from a landscape orientated photo. For example, the current pic is 4x3, and I want to crop a 3x4 section to make a new Portrait orientation shot. Surely this is possible, right? It's a pretty basic and standard practice. I can't find out how to do it in the IOS8 photo app on my iPhone 6. Please help!

Thank you - but this only works if I don't want to constrain the crop. So I can choose any free size, but not specifically a 3x4 or any of the constrained crop options the app gives us (3:2, 5:3 etc). The constrained crop options are dictated by the orientation of the original pic. It's really odd that it's not an option to change the orientation.
That is correct, constrained crops do not include an option to change 4x3 to 3x4 for example. You can provide Apple feedback directly. Who knows, maybe it will appear some day as a feature.
