Showing scores, counts, and tallies over multiple shots

I've been scratching my head and can't seem to find the secret phrase for Google that will show me the basics of how to do this.

I'm editing together recipes and counting times something happens over multiple shots. How do I show a score changing over time such as "times utensils dropped" or adding new ingredients on the side of the screen as the video goes on? Epic Meal Time used to show nutrition counts (mostly fat) as the video went on, and plenty of video game/movie reviews do this.

Any suggestions?
