Q: My 23" cinema display (08 or 09) screen is purple and shows green flecks -- what's wrong?

Hey everyone. I have my 23" cinema display (either a 2008 or 2009 model, can't remember which) connected to a 2011 Macbook Pro and the display comes up and is useable, but it is purple and shows flickering green dots at random places of the screen. Help??

I hooked this same screen up to my 2008 mac pro and it did something similar. What is the deal here?

The monitor is failing (tube needs replacing) or its fallen out of adjustment.

what does fallen out of adjustment mean? Is there a way I can adjust it?
Is there a way to tell if its failing for certain? Thanks for the help Kappy

There are adjustable alignment and color controls either external (front or rear) or internal. But if they don't help, then the problem is with some other hardware component.

I just tried the color adjustment -- didn't make much of a difference. So I'm guessing next step would be to take it into Apple to replace the tube? Any idea on cost?
