I have new files in textedit whose name is untitledN. When I save the files, textedit used to ask me what I wanted to name the file. Now, textedit saves the file as untitledN in icloud. How do I get the old behavior?

Try holding down the option/alt key when you are ready to save and go to the File menu.

Thanks for the reply. I tried doing what you suggested. I held down the option key and then clicked the File button. There was no change in behavior. Was I doing something wrong?

You are welcome. Do you get a Save As option when the option/alt key is held down? You should be able to enter a file name to replace the untitled.
