Can i mount a 500gb sata disk on a macbook air?

i want to buy a macbook air 13''. i have a macbook 2009 with 500gb sata disk and i would like to mount it on my new macbook air. is it possible? i would like not to spend too much money adding memory to the new macbook air instead of having only 250gb as default
