How do you back up to iCloud?

I have not yet found any clear and concise instructions on how to back up stuff (photos, word documents, etc.) to iCloud, and would really like some advice on how to do this, sooner rather than later. Is there anyone who can offer some help? 😟

Thanks!

J

You can use iCloud Drive like any disk to store documents and data in iCloud. But it is not a cloud backup. It is a central storage for cloud document that will make all cloud documents available on all devices syncing with iCloud drive. See: iCloud Drive FAQ - Apple Support

With iCloud Drive, you can safely store all your presentations, spreadsheets, PDFs, images, and any other kind of document in iCloud. Documents you store in iCloud Drive will be kept up to date across all of your devices, and you can access them from your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, or PC.

Here's what you can do with iCloud Drive:

  • Store and access all of your documents in one place from any of your devices
  • Keep files and folders up to date across all your devices
  • Create new files and folders from iCloud-enabled apps
  • Work on the same file across multiple apps

You move documents to iCloud Dive by dragging documents to the iCloud Dive icon in the sidebar.

  • Any document you copy to iCloud drive will be copied to all devices syncing wth iCloud Drive.
  • Any document you remove from iCloud Drive will be removed from all devices.

iCloud Drive is for single documents and data.

You need to make backups of all data you store in iCloud, if the iCloud copy is your only copy.
